I
introduced to her music , well not really her music , but caught glimpse
of her on the TVB programme - Jade Solid Gold when she performed her
No.1 song, Easily Hurt Woman. At first, I thought she was Joey Wong
( my favorite Taiwan actress) but soon realised I was listening to a
very dull and boring song. At that time, I was only 11 or 12 years old.
Well, I don't know how I get interested in her, I think most probably
when I saw her music video for 'Lau Faye Faye'. Then, my sister and
I bought her '10,000 Whys?' album and I listen to her music since then.
At first, I am shocked of her new musical style for the album 'Random
Thinking'. But, i think i'm addicted to those kind of alternative music
since it deeply influenced and widen my musical taste. In fact, I think
her greatest releases are the three albums The Decadent Sound of Faye
( a tribute to her idol, Teresa Then), Di-dar
and of course her best album to date , Restless. All of the albums were
recorded mainly in Beijing and dropped between July 95 till June 96.
During the time, she even collaborated with Cocteau Twins. Then, she
got pregnant in 96 and gave birth to her daughter, Tung on 3rd of Jan
97. And then she signed a 5 albums contract with EMI and released 'Faye
Wong', "Songs of Wanderlust/ Scenic Tour', 'Only Love Strangers',
'Fables' and 'Faye Wong' again. Now, she has signed a new contract with
Sony Music Asia and planned to release a new album by next year which
is 2003.
