SPIRIT OF THE COMPETION

This competition is a celebration of the skills of our fathers, grandfathers and perhaps great grand fathers. The one thing we can share with them is the skills achieved through marksmanship.

The rules are based, as best as possible, on the technology available to the W.W.I – W.W.II and Korean conflict soldier.

Original Military Condition

As issued means just that.

History suggests that some soldiers did do some minor "improvements" to their issued rifles, which were tolerated by inspecting NCO’s and Officers. The key is "MINOR".

Dating rifles can be difficult. Korean conflict era rifles and production end run of Lee Enfield No4 MK2, Yugoslavian Mausers, MI Garands, FN SAFN (Mod 49) etc are acceptable.

The Sporterized rifle class.

It is clear "as issued" condition is getting difficult to achieve, therefore a sporterized class is provided.

It is an acceptance of the reality that not all competitors can locate or acquire original rifles.

Re-barreling, replacement stocks, triggers etc., are acceptable in this class. However, some evidence of the rifle’s origin is necessary.

For Example: A commercial Mauser without a clip-reloading groove (cut out) would not be acceptable.

Original caliber is necessary.

The Sniper / Target Class

In recognition of an individual’s need to achieve a higher standard, a Sniper / Target class is provided. Originally, these rifles were significantly tuned and tweaked by armory and factory.

This is the category where almost any reasonable modification is permissible, but still contained within an issued or factory type stock.

No restricted rifles are permitted.

Let’s keep it simple and low cost. This can be lots of fun.
