Some
music is good, real good. Here's a selection of my favourite albums
EVER, which of course change by the day, but there's plenty of room
to add more. Apologies about the Amazon
links, but they do give pretty good reviews/information/stuff. Enjoy!

Wham
- The Final
I bought this tape, coverless, for a couple of dollars at an op shop, and only because it had Careless Whisper on it. I played the whole thing and never looked back. Best memories: being lost far far south of Auckland in a tiny Corolla with Mark and Elanor, singing Wham Rap! at the top of my voice. Best tracks: Careless Whisper, Freedom [buy it!] |

Bob
Dylan - Blood On The Tracks I started listening to Bob Dylan as a rebellious teen, wanting to kick off the shackles of oppression and... listen to the same music as my parents. I'd listened to this as a kid and loved it even more the more I heard it. It remains my favourite Dylan album. Best tracks: Tangled Up In Blue, Lily Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts [buy it!] |

Violent
Femmes - Violent Femmes
I first heard this via Alex when I was living in 680. Having already heard Blister in the Sun, the rest of it turned out to be way cool too. It's pretty fine as a road trip album, but even better for just sitting around in your room feeling bitchy or contemplative... Best tracks: Add It Up, To The Kill [buy it!] |

Dire
Straits - Making Movies I searched desperately for this album after hearing Romeo and Juliet on the radio one too many times. In those pre-internet times I had no way of getting it that didn't involve delving through every music store I came across (difficult, in Wellsford). I eventually found a $20 copy and haven't looked back. Best tracks: Tunnel of Love, Expresso Love [buy it!] |

Smalltown
Poets - Listen Closely
I got this for my 20th birthday after listening to their first (self-titled) album waaaay too many times during first year. This doesn't have as many stand-out tracks as their first but, overall, is better and slightly more adventurous. Fantastic band. Best tracks: 48 States, Quasar [buy it!] |

Neil
Young - After The Gold Rush My parents owned a Neil Young album when I was a kid - a greatest hits collection that I'm yet to find again, anywhere. I bought this album a) because it was cheap and b) for Don't Let It Bring You Down, which once featured on the Simpsons. Apart from Cripple Creek Ferry, it's all pretty deep stuff. Best tracks: Don't Let It Bring You Down, Birds [buy it!] |

Screaming
Trees - Dust
My penpal Michael introduced me to Screaming Trees, including All I Know on a compilation tape he once sent me. I eventually got sick of the weary-sounding cassette, so picked up this album on CD for five bucks - it's not bad at all. Lanegan's voice is something else. Best tracks: All I Know, Witness [buy it!] |

Pennywise
- Full Circle I love this album, because it's reminiscent of my brief induction into the world of the skater dude - for several months in '98 I hung out with a whole bunch of them, and this was a favourite. It's very very California punk, and so much fun. Best tracks: You'll Never Make It, Bro Hymn Tribute [buy it!] |

REM
- Monster
My most recent purchase, I bought this a few months ago after not being able to get enough of What's The Frequency, Kenneth? One of my favourite driving songs ever, the rest of the album is pretty impressive too. Best tracks: What's the Frequency Kenneth?, Bang and Blame [buy it!] |
