I just recently bought an athame at a magic store... tonight is a full
moon and I'd like to consecrate it. How do I do so

Dear Aidan,
Some Traditions use the Athame as a creature of Fire (South) and some use it as a creature of Air (East). So your first step is to decide to which element you wish to dedicate your Athame. Ground and Center befor the ritual. Then, cleanse the ritual space and cast a circle. Use meditation to cleanse the Athame of all previous influences. Then pass it through a representation of each of the elements to concecrate it. You may wish incense for East, water for West, fire for South and salt for Earth. Then, in the name of the Gods and Goddesses, declare that it is concecrated for the uses you have decided of it. You may wish to give it a name at this point. When you are done, close the circle, thank the Powers and Ground the energy. You may not want to let others touch your Athame now that it has been charged for you unless you are experienced with energy working.
