Dear Delriece...
How should I start. I dont only love the wican religion, but it has
been my belief ever since I could remember ,when I was 8 I remember
fighting off my family because I just did not believe in the conventional
religions, I believe in earth and a natural being. Wicca feels
comfortable, I dont practice it for making spells, that is not what attracts me
but just the general laws, of cleansiness and love.
Ok back to my problem, I do not believe in different gods and godesses,
I firmly believe in one powerfull natural being we call god, and to him
I pray, it is not because it was brainwashed into me, but I know that
that is what I believe, yet alot of wiccans insist that you HAVE to pray
to the different gods, I know this is going to sound stupid, but I feel
like I am cheating on my god, and in turn not really praying from my
heart, which I cannot do, that has stopped me from being a real wiccan,
even though, I am proud to tell even the Pope that I believe in the
wican way of life, or rather that is who I am! that is what is in my heart,
do you think you can help me at all see this a little clearer.
many thanks to you in advance

Dear Lou,
I believe I can offer another insight into the view of Deity. It is true that most Wiccans believe in one God and one Goddess as personified by their many names. But you can be Wiccan and believe in one God. In fact, Correllian Wicca, the tradition in which I am a member of the Clergy, believes in one whole deity. But one can pray to many Gods and Goddesses if they choose. They are just the many manifestations of this one God or Goddess deity. The classic metaphor is that of a diamond. If the deity is a diamond, the many facets of the diamond are the many names and faces of the Goddesses and Gods. They are all one being in the end. Some people just pray to a few facets of the diamond because they feel more comfortable communicating with those aspects of deity on a personal level. Always follow your heart. Even traditional Wiccans should respect the idea of your God being your "Patron deity" if you explain it to them like that.
Light!
Delriece
