Dear Kimberley,
This can be a very complicated question since this is the point at which many branches of Paganism diverge in philosophy. There are those who believe in many Gods and Goddesses. They choose to worship a pantheon that is associated with a region, for example the Celtic, Egyptian or Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses. Some believe that all of the archetypes of the Goddesses condense into one representation of the Goddess, and the same for the God. They call these two deities the Lord and Lady and ask for help by one of their many other names which are their representations in each pantheon. The Correllian tradition of Wicca takes this even further by using the metaphor of the diamond. If all divinity is one whole diamond, than the many facets of the diamond are the many faces of the Gods and Goddesses. This is why many individuals choose to honor one or two deities above all others since they can relate to them more closely. I suggest that you take a look at the many different Traditions and their ways of viewing divinity. Work on discovering how you personally relate to each philosophy and formulate your own.
Light!
Delriece
