Dear Delriece...
I am fairly new to the Craft and although I have been reading various
books and articles for years I feel it is about time I started putting
that knowledge into practice. What I would like to know (and what no
body seems to mention) is what sort of information I should put in my Book
of Shadows? Should it be purely spell work or should it also be the
things about the Craft that I have learnt such as history, sabbats,
symbols, etc? Could you help me out?

Dear Kalisto,
I'd like to encourage you to use your first Book of Shadows as a sort of magickal diary! Go ahead and include all that extra information that you find you may use repeatedly. Also, be sure to record your impressions and results after performing spells and rituals! Be sure to date all the spells and chants you write yourself and record names of the authors of those you didn't!
