Dear Delriece...
I'm nearing the end of my rope. It seems that I must be the most
unlucky person in the world. Three weeks ago was my 11th wedding
anniversary-we spent the evening at an urgent care center because my 5 year old
needed her leg X-rayed (nothing was broken), the next day my Grandmother
died, two days after that both my kids got severely sunburned because my
mother-in-law didn't realize the sun shines through clouds, then my
house was broken into, the thiefs got away with $4000.00 worth of MY
stuff, including my great-grandmothers monogrammed locket, then I got a
speeding ticket. To top it all off, I found out my husband has been paying
to have a profile listed on dating/sex websites. And, meeting women on
the side. Now, I believe in the rule of three, but this is ridiculous.
The only thing that I can think of that I may have done is...I didn't
help a blind man cross the street a few weeks ago. I've helped him a
couple of times and he's asked me for my phone number and money. Tha!
t day I saw him and didn't help him I just didn't feel like dealing
with his harrasment. Did I screw up? How can I change my string of bad
luck? Please help me, I can't go on like this.

Dear Sarah,
First of all, remember that bad luck can snowball and also has a way of giving a biased and depressing memory of things. For example though it may not apply in this situation, you may have gotten a speeding ticket due to stress of other bad events, or you may remember a sunburn more than a happy day at the beach because of recent bad events. Secondly, instead of trying to rectify past wrongs, simply alter your actions in the future. Don't obsess over how much you can help one blind person that you forgot to help once before. Instead, see what good you can do in the future for those around you and work on striking down your own problems one by one. You can turn any luck around with enough dynamic energy of your own!
