MINUTES
The meeting of the NC/ASCA was called to order at 5:45 PM by Richard Giardini at the Roller City
Rink in Springfield, MO. on June 26, 2000. There were 18 members present.
Pizza and soft drink were served before and during meeting.
The Secretary's report was read and approved.
The Treasurer's report was approved. Balance of $928.61 at 5/31/00.

.Election of Officers:

Secretary/Treasurer Diane Brown
Vote was taken and unanimously approved to retain the current officers.
.Rule Changes -Recommendations
The following recommendations were discussed and voted upon.
1. Change two (2) dances every year. Use a 3 year cycle. Standard Events only.
Vote: Unanimous
2. Change two (2) figures every year. Adult divisions only -Sophomore and up. Use a
3 year cycle.
Vote: Unanimous
3. Discussion of Junior Olympic Division. Two recommendations:
a. Eliminate 4th place Vote: 15 yes, 1 no, 2 abstain
b. No J:O. Nationals Vote: Unanimous
This would allow shorter time for Nationals and open up options for venues.
4. Recommendation to separate Speed and Art at Nationals. Discussion that it
would (a) possibly cut down days, (b) there is not much crossover between speed and art
( c) should recognize a cost savings and ( d) should be able to complete the Artistic Nationals
in 7 or 8 days.
Vote: Unanimous
5. Recommendation that a skater cannot judge a Pro that they have taken from in the last 3yrs.
Vote: 16 yes, 0 no, 2 abstain
6. Recommendation to look at the music being used to make it more interesting and expressive
for dance and freestyle. Allow lyrics.
a. Symphonic and Pop music w/lyricsfor dance. Vote: Unanimous b. Freestyle music -allow lyrics. Vote: Unanimous
.Board Meeting in October 2000
Motion was made and approved to send Dean Morss to the meeting.
Dean Morss said he would check dates and let us know ifhe could attend.
