Ah, no glow here. Anyway, this is the JRChat, I'm sure you've heard of it. It was created by LummoxJR, of The Norn Underground>. Anyways, Just keep it 'PG' rated, and all should be fine. It *is* monitered, ya know =)
Keep in mind that there are rules here:
- The #1 rule is 'no scrolling'. Meaning, typing lines after lines of unnecessary stuff. It can also mean repeating the same thing over and over again, ie: "blah, blah, blah, blah, etc." It could simply be avoided, but if you must, you can leave in only one 'blah', or any other word substituting it. Another example of scrolling would be "HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". Only one '!' can be used for the same effect, I'm sure the other users will understand that you need 'help', if you type it with only one '!'.
- Another key rule is 'no stats'. Meaning, no aksing the entire room 'a/s/l', or age, sex and location. If you really want to know where someone if from, or their age, or whatever, you can send them a private message, and if they choose to, they'll answer. If however the person doesn't want to answer, it is not a good idea to keep pestering them about it, because chances are, you'll get kicked.
- That brings us to another key rule, 'no polling'. Polling would be asking the entire room a question, something like "If you like dogs, press 1". Usually these are stupid questions, for example, "So where is everyone from?" and "What time does everyone have?". Usually if you poll you'll be warned first. If you ask a non-stupid question (not the same as smart...), then you might be answered, but good luck trying to come up with one of those...
- NO SHOUTING!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND? < that would be considered shouting =) DON'T DO THAT! You might just get kicked...
- Don't type a bunch of random characters, it would be considered scrolling. Example: "fdsfijewnuifhudshufhdsu" Not very nice, huh?
- No foul language. I'm not going to example that, but you know what I mean. It is very offensive, and just might get you a nice kick to set you straight
- RPGing, that is role playing games. Pretending you're a norn, or pretending you're marrying/divorcing someone in the room would be considered RPGing. It might be allowed for a very short time in the Creatures room, until the ops get mad, and redirect you to the Creatures RPG room. I see that room as the Mad House, you know, the one with the soft purple padding on the walls. Or maybe you'll strike an interesting conversation there...
- The Ops...these are the important people. You can tell appart an Op by the asterisk (*) they have next to their name. I beleive there are several types of Ops, first off, the TempOps and the SysOps. SysOps are permanent (unless Lummox gets pissed at them), and they can do stuff regular users can't, like kick people, and create rooms. TempOps can kick people, and do other stuff, but they have less options, and don't have a (*). Ah yes, they're the ones that monitor this room, so don't offend them if you know what's good for ya!
- Commands: there are various command you can use to do...stuff. One of the most popular commands is /me It makes it appear that you do something. I don't understand that statment either, here's an example worded for the simpleminded: OK, say I was logged in the JRC under 'Timothy', and I want to say that I am looking out the window. I would then type '/me looks out the window', and on the screen, after you press Enter (or Return), it will say 'Timothy looks out the window'. Of course, you'd have to type it without the apostrophes, or it won't work. Is that simple enought for ya?
- Another popular command is /msg It sends a private message to the user of your choise. For example, Bob wants to say something to Sally, but doesn't want anyone else to see what he says. Bob then can type '/msg Sally Hello.' Bob will see [To Sally] Hello. Sally will see [From Bob] Hello. No one else will even know that Bob sent Sally a message (except I'm not so sure about the Ops, beware the Ops =)
- Of course there are plenty of other commands, which I'm not even going to go into. If you'd like to see a list of commands, type in /help
- Wow, this place is so strict...actually it doesn't seem so strict once you're inside
- Oh yea, AOLspeek is quite frowned upon. AOLspeek is using lame words, like 'u', 'wuz', 'cuz', 'pplz', etc. AOL itself is laughed at, but anyway, those are 'phrases' often used on AOL and AIM. You probably won't be kicked for using those, but it is considered quite annoying, when it only takes two more keys to make 'you' out of 'u'.
- Which brings me to the Autokick. For certain words, curses even you don't need an Op to kick you, the JRC will kick you itself. Be forwarned, 'ya'll' is an autokick ;-)
- I think I'm done with the rules...Huzzah!
