Newbies often find the column headings on the Portfolio page at WSS to be confusing. Below are the simplified explanations of how each column should be viewed.

Portfolio Column Headings Explained

S
Checking this box and then selecting "Sell" at the bottom of the table will begin the process of selling all shares of this holding.

Quan
The number of shares currently held by you.

Symb
The WSS ticker symbol for this holding.

Name
The name of the athlete or Mutual Fund.

Price
The CURRENT price of a share of the stock or mutual fund.

Change
This number reflects the change in price of the stock since the last reset. It does not necessarily have any relevance to how the price has changed since you have owned it. One reset occurs at 4:00pm ET, daily.

Avg Paid
The average price you paid when you bought the stock. Compare this number with "Price" to see how well the stock is doing for you.

Net Change
This is the percentage change of the value of the stock / fund since you initially bought it.

Total Value
The number of shares x the (current) Price that are in your portfolio. If you sell it all, you will pay 1% of this number as a commission.
